Wrenny Penny

A Tribute to "Wrenn" - Huntington's Ruby Begonia
March 23, 1981 - June 26, 1995

It all started July 30, 1985. It was a very exciting day. Our family was on the way to the airport to pick up our foundation bitch. She was the daughter of Ch. Macdega Canden Coming Home, and her dam was Shamont Great Expectations. The breeder was Nancy Leach, and we were fortunate enough to buy her from Kathy Kuleck from Cleveland Heights, Ohio.

Wrenn had just whelped 8 puppies approximately 2 months prior, and as Kathy stated in her letter which accompanied Wrenn, "Here she is in all her hairless glory!", She added in her letter that she was sweet and loving. Reading on she said, "Let her show you the ropes".

Well, Wrenn, you certainly did all of that and more! I had the honor of you accompanying me to my first AKC show, in which you placed second in your class. I was so proud of you. In my eyes you were first and always a champion.

You gave me my first litter of pups. You taught me how to whelp a litter, and you loved your pups so much. You showed me a correct motherly instinct, gave me pups with wonderful temperaments, intelligence & beauty. You gave me my first home bred champion, Ch. Zhandane's Little Mistress, "Missy", who will carry your name on proudly. You gave me a lot of friends, whom I met at the show and at the Sheltie club. You gave me a great love for Shelties that will never die. I'd like to thank all the breeders involved in Wrenn's lineage. What a wonderful job.

Thank you Kathy for letting us purchase this beautiful girl, I'll never be able to repay you. Thank you Sheldon (my husband) for purchasing Wrenn for me. Thank you Shawn (my daughter) for sitting up nights with Wrenn & I whelping pups, and getting ready for shows. Thank you Roger Barr for taking such good care of Wrenn in all of her veterinary needs and for letting me be with her, hold her in my arms the day she passed on. I couldn't have deserted her, she was always there for me. Thank you Pat Starkweather, Heidi Mendez, and Diane Steel for finishing and loving Wrenn's beautiful daughter "Missy".

Thank you Marie Boelke, Marilyn Magnuson, Deb, Brad, & Gregg Nordby, Helen Zumbaum and my daughter Shawn for being with Wrenn and I the day she passed on, and for all your support and for being there to say good-bye.

And last, but not least, thank you Wrenn. You touched a lot of lives in one way or another, and no one will ever be able to fill your little paws. We have 14 roses in honor of you, one for each year of your life with us on earth. Hopefully someday, I'll see you again, and you can give me one of your big hugs. I will never forget you. You'll be with me and hold a special place in my heart forever.

I Love You. Your humble Master, Cheryle

Wrenn, This is for my lifetime companion, Wrenn. We got you when I was 6 years old. I remember the first time you had puppies with Pepsi, our first sheltie. You were a great mother to all your puppies and others. I was always very excited when I knew you were going to have pups. Thank you Wrenn, for everything, especially for my Champion, "Missy", she means the world to me and more. I never thought I would cry so much over your passing on. I was supposed to be strong for Mom's sake, but I couldn't. I'll never forget you. You'll be in my heart forever, and so will the memories you gave me. You were with me for nine years of my life. I love you, and death cannot stop my love for you.

With undying love & devotion, Shawn Warnberg

Cheryle & Shawn have conveyed what a loving, devoted friend and companion we had in Wrenn. With which, I totally concur. What impressed me, was her ability to control, not only her pups, and the other dogs in the house, but also the kids, Cheryle and myself. She had her rules:

a) No running. Consequences: Nipping heels.

b) No fighting. Consequences: Nipping legs.

c) No yelling. Consequences: Barking until it stopped.

She made sure these rules were adhered to. She taught her daughter "Missy" how to do the job! "Missy" was an excellent pupil.

So now, the crown has passed. Missy is now the queen. She will do Wrenn great honor. I will never forget her.

Love, Dad
